4th South Carolina Regiment order book, 1775-1778.

Order book of the South Carolina Militia, 4th Regiment (South Carolina Artillery Regiment) contains reports about activities at Fort Johnson, Gadsden's Wharf, Granville Bastion, Laurens Battery, and the battle of Fort Sullivan (Fort Moultrie). Volume includes a list of "soldiers belonging to the grenadier company of the Second Regiment employed on the Works of the Grand Battery," "men recruited to work filling in the merlons," and "men employed as carpenters." Also includes a record of "Palmetto posts delivered at Fort Johnson out of the Harlequin schooner belonging to Capt. Elliott."
